Adobe has found success in the mobile photo-editing space with Adobe Photoshop Express, a mobile app that offers easy, on-the-go support for capturing, organizing, editing and sharing photos on popular social networks like Facebook and has amassed over 20 million users on the iOS and Android platforms.
Today, the company announced the availability of Adobe Photoshop Express 2.0 software for iOS devices, adding iOS 4 multi-tasking support, New Camera workflow for rapid in-app photo-taking, alongwith a full fledge Retina Display support.
A variety of one-touch effects are available to users of Photoshop Express 2:
- Basics: Crop, Straighten, Rotate, and Flip
- Color: Exposure, Saturation, Tint, Black and White, and Contrast
- Filters: Sketch, Soft Focus, and Sharpen
- Effects: Vibrant, Pop, Border, Vignette Blur, Warm Vintage, Rainbow, White Glow, and Soft Black and White
- Borders: Rectangle, Rounded, Oval, Soft Edge, Vignette, Rough Edge, Halftone, and Film Emulsion
You can download the app free from Apple iTunes Store, and the Photoshop Express 2.0 also includes a new Adobe Camera Pack for in-app purchase. “Photoshop Express 2.0 and the new Adobe Camera Pack solve a problem for anyone who cares about the quality of their images,” says Jordan Davis, senior product manager for mobile imaging at Adobe. This Camera Pack priced at $3.99 add multitude of new features including Reduce noise, Self timer, and auto review.
Reduce Noise: Even the best phone cameras can introduce small amounts of grain and speckling—called noise—into images. The Reduce Noise feature quickly smooths out those flaws to improve your photos. (See screenshot with aggressive settings applied.)
Self Timer: Set a camera timer to 3- or 10-second intervals before the photo is snapped. Now you can be in the picture too!
Photoshop Express 2.0 for iOS is available worldwide in English for free download from the iTunes store. The Adobe Camera Pack is available for in-app purchase for US$3.99. Instructions for purchase are provided in the app.
Photoshop Express 2.0 requires iOS 4.2 or later. To use the Adobe Camera Pack, customers must have an iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, iPod Touch (3rd or 4th generation), or an iPad or iPad 2 (note that Photoshop Express does not include support for the iPad 2 camera at this time).
