Download Auslogics BitReplica: Free Data Backup Software – A decent backup program is essential for any computer user as there is always a chance that you could lose all of your important files one day, causing you a great deal of inconvenience and distress as well as potential professional problems if the documents were related to your work. If you are still looking for an easy to use data backup software then BitReplica from Auslogics software might be worth a closer look.
BitReplica is a newly released, freeware tool for backing up files stored on your Windows PC. It protects your photos, music, documents and any other data from being lost due to a hard drive crash, virus attack or accidental deletion. The program lets you create multiple backup profiles with different settings–you can separate work from personal files, documents from photos, or set other rules. The Profile Wizard makes selecting files for backing up very easy by offering you a list of standard Windows locations and file categories to choose from. These include e-mail contacts, pictures, videos, documents kept in the My Documents folder, email client or web browser profiles. You can add additional folders and files by browsing your hard drive and adding locations to the list. Schedule automatic backups to run hourly, daily or weekly, or back up manually whenever it is convenient for you. Synchronize files on two networked drives to create identical sets of files you can work with from either location – now you don’t have to worry about having to manually transfer changes when moving between two work computers or between your desktop and laptop. Split backups into volumes by standard CD or DVD sizes so they can be later written onto disks. BitReplica lets you create full backups, or save disk space by using incremental or differential backup engines. Restoring the saved data is made easy too – you can restore the whole backup with just one click of the Restore button, or browse it like a regular folder and select individual items you would like to restore.
There are also a few down sides, though (reference).
- You’re only able to choose particular folders to back up, for instance – it’s not possible to select specific files within a folder.
- Your backup destinations are limited to regular local or external drives: there’s no optical disc, FTP or cloud support.
- And there are no options to encrypt or password-protect your archive (not even as a part of the ZIP compression option).
Still, Auslogics BitReplica does provide a fair amount of functionality for a free tool, and if your needs are simple then it could make an excellent backup choice.
