As we all know Indian government has introduced a new official symbol to represent India’s currency “Rupee” just as the case for the US Dollar ($), the Euro (€), or the Japanese Yen (¥), which looks as following:
The new Rupee symbol is already a part of Unicode version 6.0 and today Microsoft has released an update to support the new currency symbol for the Indian Rupee in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, both 32 bit and 64bit systems.
Named as KB2496898, this update also includes font support, locale changes, and keyboard support. You will have to restart the computer after you apply this update to take effect on your systems.
