Electronic Arts is continuing its “On the House” free game promotional program and is now offering the ultimate classic Maxis city-building and management simulation, SimCity 2000 Special Edition PC game for free (worth $5.99). It’s not clear for how long the game will be available for free, but the page state that the offer is available for a Limited Time Only. So it’s probably best to claim this free game as soon as possible.

SimCity 2000 Special Edition

Released in February 7 1995, SimCity 2000 (SC2K) is a classic city building and management simulation video game and the second installment in the SimCity series. It has all the features, flexibility, art, animation, and power you need to create an environment of your dreams. Choose from a selection of bonus cities and scenarios to rule or ruin as you please. Build schools, libraries, hospitals, zoos, prisons, power plants, and much more… Lay down roads, railways, and highways. Explore the underground layer and build subways and utilities without compromising your aesthetics. Customize different buildings or design your own graphics sets from scratch. This Special Edition features the SimCity Urban Renewal Kit and additional bonus scenarios, music, cities, and movies.

SimCity 2000 Special Edition is normally priced at $5.99 but you can grab the game for free for a limited time period on EA’s Origin store here. If you don’t have an Origin account, just create one, it’s free.

And as with the other On the House freebies, once you claim the game, you can download and play it whenever you want, even when the game goes back to its original price on Origin. If you’re a fan of classic city/empire building games, don’t miss out.
