Mcafee false positive detection of W32/Wecorl.a in 5958 DAT Leads to Restart

McAfee DAT 5958, released earlier today, contains a false positive that erroneously detects svchost.exe as infected with the W32/Wecorl.a virus. Windows XP SP3 systems were affected.Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP SP1, Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista,
Windows 7 and older version of Windows were Not affected. Also,Mcafee Personal Edition is NOT affected

As svchost.exe is a critical system file, this false positive detection of W32/Wecorl.a effectively cripples the system, causing it to endlessly Restart with errors. To resolve the problem, McAfee is recommending affected users boot into Safe Mode and replace the 5958 DAT with a special EXTRA.DAT from McAfee.
