The Chinese New Year, also called the Lunar New Yea, will begin on January 23rd this year. According to the Chinese calendar, 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. The Dragon is a creature of myth and legend. It is the ultimate auspicious symbol signifying success and happiness. I may the celestial Dragon bring great good luck to everyone.
Microsoft decided to join the celebrations, and came up with two Chinese New Year-related theme packs to dress up your Windows 7 & Windows 8 based computers: Year of the Dragon theme and Best of Bing : Chinese New Year theme.
Year of the Dragon Theme Pack
Year of the Dragon theme pack features 12 high-resolution of wallpapers of the imperial dragon rendered in stone, wood, and bronze.
Hot pink pin wheels, bright orange dragons, and softly glowing paper lanterns: This theme brings the colors and moods of the Chinese New Year to your desktop.
Download Best of Bing: Chinese New Year Theme Pack from this link.
Both the two theme packs can be installed in Windows 7 (Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions) and Windows 8 as well. Windows 7 and Windows 8 users can install these theme packs with a double-click after downloading. The themes can then be customized from “Personalization Gallery”. Users running other operating systems like Windows Vista and Windows XP may still download the theme packs and use an unpacker like 7-zip to extract the wallpapers to their system to use them without the theme file. Fans may even go the extra step and install a wallpaper changer to automatically switch between all, or only some, of the wallpapers of the themepack.
To uninstall a theme, open Personalization window (right-click on desktop > Personalize), select the theme and then click Delete theme option.
