As we know, iPhone Dev team released the jailbreaking tool Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 on Sunday but it came with a few major issues. Since then, they are working hard to fix all the issues to get it ready for the general public. Here is a good news for the users that the fourth beta of Redsn0w 0.9.7, the latest version of their untethered jailbreak, has released by the iPhone Dev Team, which eliminates the need to install and run a separate program for usbmux. This makes the jailbreak process less complicated. In addition to this redsn0w 0.9.7b4 brings fix to race condition in the GUI that was causing redsn0w to crash during the “Preparing JB Monte Files” step. Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 continues to require 4.2b3 SHSH blobs and works with iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod touch 4G.
According to iPhone Dev team latest update:
Update #4: The fourth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). Starting with this version, redsn0w no longer requires you to install and run a separate program for the usbmux (this was a non-trivial procedure for many). It’s okay to keep that program running if you normally use it for ssh anyway. We also think we’ve fixed a race condition in the GUI that was causing redsn0w to crash during the “Preparing JB Monte Files” step. Nothing at all has changed on the iPhone side (where the main issues are still just Bluetooth and Skype).
Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 4 is currently available only for Mac users, if everything goes well with this new update, the Dev Team will open up the beta testings to Windows users as well. so the windows version of redsn0w for iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak may be available within little few days.
As usual, the Dev Team recommends restoring your existing iOS hardware before jailbreaking with the latest redsn0w version. We would like to again reiterate that Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 4 is still not meant for general public so stay away if you are not interested in being a beta tester. Stick around and we will keep you updated when the stable Mac and Windows version of redsn0w for iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak is released.
At last I’d like to wish all our readers a very Happy New year, may this new year 2011 brings you much success and prosperity in all your endeavors.
