As we all know Microsoft has released a Developer Preview build of Windows 8 to public a few days back. This built of Windows 8 comes with lots of new features and enhancements, and one of the most visible changes is the new Aero visual style. If you for some reason can’t test windows 8, or if you want to apply the Win 8 Visual Style to your Windows 7, then this is the VS Theme you want.
The Windows 8 VS for Win7 theme is developed by a deviantart member, fediaFedia, based on Original aero.msstyles and a wallpaper from Windows 8. The style itself is VERY VERY simple, and ultimately looks like windows 8. The only difference is how the frames look. Below is the preview of this visual style:
How to install this Windows 8 Aero Visual Style theme in Windows 7:
Step 1: Download the Windows 8 visual style zip file from here. Extract the zip file and you will get three folders: Original aero.msstyles from Windows 8, Theme for Windows 7, UniversalThemePatcher_20090409
Step 2: As we all know, Windows 7 doesn’t allow you install third-party themes by default. To be able to do so, you need to Patch uxtheme first. Open Universal Theme Patcher folder and run UniversalThemePatcher.exe file to patch the uxtheme file. (ignore if patched already)
Step 2: Go to “Theme for Windows 7” folder and copy everything from there to: C:\windows\resources\themes folder. Then doubleclick aero8.theme file and it should apply.
Known bugs: Edges are bugged a little.
