Data Recovery Wizard includes 4 Recovery Modes: Deleted File Recovery mode works with deleted files or the files emptied from Recycle bin and allows you to “undelete” them (another popular term is “unerase”). Intact file system is important for this mode. Complete Recovery mode is designed for data recovery from Hard Disk including formatted partition, crashed file system without drive letters. Partition Recovery mode is designed for recover data from Hard Disk including crashed file system, mistakenly deleted partitions, hidden partitions, drives with failed operating/file system, and drives suffered from virus. RAW Recovery mode: If the file system has been badly damaged and searching from FAT (File Allocation Table) or MFT (Master File Table) is of no use for data recovery, RAW recovery mode will easily handle this situation. When using RAW recovery, files will be detected by their headers taken from sectors of the disk. In some cases, Raw Recovery is the only method to recover needed file(s). However, it cannot recover files in original names, but content of the file can be recovered up to 100%. After you select Complete Recovery or Partition Recovery mode and enter the device/partition list, you can choose “Option” -> “RAW” to set the RAW recovery.

Just a For Your Information:
My understanding is that fragmented files are not usually recoverable. I’m saying this because I don’t think it is realised or often said. If I’m wrong please correct me.
That’s why some files you think you will recover are not saveable, ones you just deleted. I’d expect it’s due to there no longer being addresses to tie the fragments back together being there or something. A reason to defrag!
Thanks for all william. … 🙂
It worked and recovered my lost files in the memory card. Thanks.
(sorry if i ask for something that’s already somewhere here…
since the moment i realized i formatted not my thumb drive
but external hard drive, i went \(^o^)/)
when i click on the download link i get an .exe file. i’m using a macbook.
is there a mac version for this?
@NB, there is a mac version of this software: EaseUS Mac Data Recovery Wizard, However it is not available for free currently.
You may try these freeware alternatives: MiniTool Mac Data Recovery for Mac (restore lost data up to 1 GB), TestDisk & PhotoRec for Mac, Disk Drill for Mac, EaseUS Mac Photo Recovery Free for Mac, Data Rescue for Mac, etc.
Thank you for your quick reply!
I’m looking at ~100GB so I guess MiniTool is out of the question.
I do have Windows 7 installed in this macbook, but was/is afraid of data loss if I’m to switch to WIndows.
I tried a number of (demo) recovery softwares, and found that this EaseUS Mac Data Recovery Wizard has the most thorough scan.
There should be ~100GB in my 500GB hard drive, and the scan found 486.94(!!)GB.
(It was previously an internal hard drive of a now spoilt laptop)
Now that I think about it, will any of the data in my external hard drive be affected if I’m to reboot into Windows?
If this matters, I formatted in Mac OS.
If there won’t be any data loss, then I’ll switch to Windows and try recovering from there right away.
@NB,
You can switch to Windows and try recovering from there, Only IF your Windows OS is not installed on the same drive where files get lost and you want to restore from.
Also take note that never installing Data Recovery Wizard on the disk partition containing the lost data since that can cause irretrievable data loss. It’s always best to run data-recovery operations from a separate, healthy disk.
At last, of course, not all lost data can be recovered, and there’s no guarantee that recovered data will be intact or still usable.
I downloaded the drw.exe file you gave a link for (special edition). But when i try to install it, it shows as ‘unknown publisher’, not as CHENGDU YIWO Tech Development Co. as it is supposed to be. So are you sure this is not malware or something like that?
The facebook promo you mentioned does not seem to work any more. (15 Aug 2012)
@chandu, The special edition is provided by Digiarty Software (www.winxdvd.com). Personally I think it is a trustworthy company.
