The high-quality, hassle-free anti-virus/anti-malware program from Microsoft for Windows PCs, the Security Essentials 4 has been in beta since November last year. After a long time wait, Microsoft has finally announced the availability of the final, stable version of the Microsoft Security Essentials 4.0 (v 4.0.1526.0).
The 4.0 update is part of the standard product update release cycle. This service update contains product enhancements to improve performance and user experience, including the new simplified user interface that makes MSE easier to use and navigate, the usual bug fixes, and the improved performance and detection rates, as well as the improvements on the Automatic Remediation feature, which will automatically quarantine highly harmful threats without prompting the user to take action.
Microsoft Security Essentials 4.0 is offered as a 32-bit and 64-bit edition (32-bit only on XP) and is compatible with Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP1 or SP2, and Windows 7. Small businesses may like the fact that Microsoft Security Essentials can be installed on up to 10 PCs free of charge. However, your PC must run genuine Windows to install Microsoft Security Essentials.
If you have a previous version of Microsoft Security Essentials installed on you system, you don’t need to uninstall it, the antivirus will be automatically updated to the latest version through the Microsoft Update service.
