Google Mobile Blog yesterday officially announced that they are releasing a new version of Android Market app over the next few weeks for all phones running Android 2.2 and higher. The new version has a completely redesigned interface which looks pretty amazing and is said to be inspired from the Microsoft’s tiles used in the Windows Phone 7 Metro UI. Google says the new user interface makes it “faster, easier, and more fun to discover great apps, movies, and books.” The new market app also includes more top charts, with newer, more relevant items, and new collections of great content such as staff picks, Trending Apps, and Editors’ Choice apps.
The new Android Market app makes it a snap for U.S. users to rent movies and purchase e-books on their phone. Android users have been looking forward to these features on their phones for a long time, with the new Market app Android smartphone users can finally get in on the movie rental and book purchase action. Both movies and books are linked to your Google account, so they’re instantly available across all of your devices – computer, phone, or tablet – without the need for wires or downloads. Google is going rolling out the books and movies feature to the rest of the world at some point but they did not give us any idea when they would become available.
